Basic Concept of Gerund, participle & Infinitive

A gerund is a present participle (verb + ing) which works as a noun in a sentence. A gerund can only function as a noun.  Example :  1.    Swimming is a good exercise. 2.    Teaching is a great profession. 3.    Chair- sitting is a funny game. 4.    Playing for this team is an honor. 5.    Sleeping at this hour of the day is not good for health. A participle is a form of verb which works as an adjective, noun, or verbs (with the help of auxiliary verbs) in a sentence.  Participles are mainly of two types: 1. Present Participle 2. Past Participle Example:   1.    I saw him walking there. 2.    They had broken up their marriage. 3.    Don’t sit on that spinning chair. 4.    I saw a sleeping cat. An infinitive verb is a verb form that takes a ‘to’ before the base form, as in ‘to take’, ‘to buy’, ‘to go’, etc. It is a term that is also used to refer to the base verb that does not function as the verb in the sentence.   In 1971 Bangladesh gained independence with a brutal war against Pakistan. Bangladesh was known as East Pakistan at that time, and it was a part or province of the mainland Pakistan. Pakistan got independence in 1947 from British rule and Bangladesh got independence on 16 December 1971. 16 December is “Victory Day” of Bangladesh. It is observed in our country on 16th December every year. The Pakistani army surrendered on 16 December and that’s why this date is called the victory day of Bangladesh. It is a national holiday. Daily activities of every educational institution, office-court are closed on this day. On this day, joy rally or various cultural programs are organized by all institutions. It is the most memorable day in the history of our country. After a nine-month-long bloody war and three million martyrs, we won the victory on this day.   Clause is a part of an English sentence containing the finite verb and subject. A clause is an association of two or more words. This will have a finite verb of it's own. Despite having it's own finite verb, the clause itself is not a sentence, but only a part of the main sentence. In a sentence, clause can be divided into two parts on the basis of its role or function. 1. Principal clause 2. Subordinate clause Principal clause: A clause that is not dependent on any other clause to express its meaning is called a principal clause. That is, the clause that is separated from the main sentence but has the ability to be a simple sentence, is called the principal clause. Example: The boy who is playing cricket is my friend.     Preposition is a word and also a parts of speech, that shows direction, location, time or  that introduces an object.  prepositions are typically followed by an object,  which can be a noun, a noun phrase, or a pronoun. Rule-1: "Between " is used to mean something between two. On the other hand, "among" is used to refer to more than two people or things.   example: you boys must settle it  among  yourselves.                 He divided the money  between   the two children.   Countable noun : A noun that can be counted is called a countable noun. Such nouns can have two forms, singular and plural.  "A/an" can be used before this noun. Uncountable noun : A noun that usually cannot be counted, but can be measured, is called an uncountable noun. This type of noun is used only as singular, without adding "S/es" at the end. "A/an" cannot be used before this noun, but "the" can be used in special cases if that noun is specifically mentioned. rule-1 uncountable nouns are used only in the singular and are followed by singular verbs. Article is not used before it. Example: Incorrect: Rakib speaks the Japanese at home. Correct: Rakib speaks Japanese at home. Incorrect: I like my tea with the milk. Correct: I like my tea with milk. Three rich man and their kindness

Once upon a time there was a small village which was facing great poverty. One day three rich men and their servants were traveling on the same road, on their way they came to this poor village. Seeing the poverty of village all the three men thought of helping the people of village. The first man couldn’t see their poverty so he took all the gold and silver from his bags and shared them among villagers. He wished them all the best and left. Second rich man seeing poverty and condition of village decided to help them. So he gave away all his food and drink as he thought that money couldn’t be of much use to them. He made sure that each one in village get fair share and get enough food that would last for time. Then he left. Third rich man, after seeing the poverty of villagers speed-ed up and traveled straight through the village without stopping. Family vs Money

Rama's family is very big. Rama is a hard worker and he is the sole bread winner of the family. He has three children, two sons and a daughter. He lives along with father and mother. Rama used to work very hard to feed his family. He works for more than 16 hours a day. The kids cannot see him as he will leave home early in the morning before they wake-up and reach home around midnight when kids would sleep every day. The entire family eagerly wait to spend quality time with him and the kids miss him so much. The children were too curious about Sundays as his father would spend the entire day with them. Unfortunately, to meet the increasing household expenses and educational expenses, Rama took a weekend job to work even on Sundays. The kids were very shattered and even Rama's wife and parents also. The typical routine continued for many weeks and year passed. All the hard work of Rama earned a lot of benefits and he was offered promotion with attractive increment. The family mo
