Journey By Boat


A journey is a source of pleasure. Bangladesh is a land of rivers. So journey by boat is easy and
popular in our country.

Journey by boat is my favourite journey. Because journey by boat is very interesting and peaceful.
It gives me much pleasure. During the last autumn our school was closed. It was a suitable time for
me to have a journey. At that time my cousin invited me. It is much easier to reach my cousin's home
by boat. So i decided to make the journey by boat.

I proposed to some of my friends to join me to make the journey more interesting. Three of my friends accepted my proposal. It was a twelve miles journey. We had hired a boat. We started from
sadarghat at 10 a.m. Our boatman was a nice person. He steered the boat smoothly. The weather was
calm and quiet. It was really a beautiful day.

During the journey we had a lot of enjoyment. The boat was dancing on the small waves. We also
enjoyed a 'Bhatiali' song sung by the boatman. The voice of boatman was really well. Some fishermen were catching fish. Many children were bathing or swimming. I saw some women taking
water from river. finally we reached our destination at 12 p.m. We enjoyed there very much. We
came back home by boat in the evening. It was a memorable day. I wish I could make a journey 
like this once again.

A gerund is a present participle (verb + ing) which works as a noun in a sentence. A gerund can only function as a noun.  Example :  1.    Swimming is a good exercise. 2.    Teaching is a great profession. 3.    Chair- sitting is a funny game. 4.    Playing for this team is an honor. 5.    Sleeping at this hour of the day is not good for health.
