Sentence
Sentence: A sentence is a set of words which gives a complete sense.
There are five types of sentences base on meaning.
1. Assertive sentence
A. Affirmative
B. Negative
2. Interrogative sentence.
3. Imperative sentence.
4. Optative sentence.
5. Exclamatory sentence.
1. Assertive sentence: An assertive sentence is a sentence that states a fact. Such sentences are simple statements. They state, assert or declare something. There are two types of assertive sentence.
A. affirmative sentence, B. Negative sentence.
Example: 1. I am a student.
2. My father is a teacher.
3. He doesn't like it
2. Interrogative sentence: The sentence which asks a question is called an interrogative sentence.
Example: 1. Do you know him?
2. What is your name?
3. Why are you making a noise in the class?
3. Imparative sentence: The sentence which gives a command or make a request is called imperative sentence.
Example: 1. Give me a glass of water.
2. Don't run in the sun.
3. Please lend me your book.
4. Optative sentence: The sentence which expresses wish, prayer, hope, desire, curse or etc is called a optative sentence.
Example: 1. May Allah bless you.
2. Good morning.
3. Long live my father.
5. Exclamatory sentence: The sentence which expresses sudden and strong feelings such as surprise, wonder, happiness or gratitude is called exclamatory sentence.
Example: 1. How nice the bird is!
2. Alas! I have lost my book.
3. What a great performance!
