An honest woodcutter


Once upon a time a woodcutter lived in a village. One day he was cutting wood near a river. Suddenly his axe fell into the river. The river was very deep. He did not know how to swim
or drive. So he was sitting there very sadly. after a few moment a wonderful thing happened. A
fairy appeared before the woodcutter. She asked in her sweet voice why he was sad. Then the woodcutter said her about the matter of his sadness. Then the fairy drove into the river and came
back with an axe which was made of gold and asked him if it was his axe. The woodcutter replied in
a negative and said that it was not his axe. The fairy drove again and came back with an axe which
was made of silver. the woodcutter replied in the negative again. Then the fairy drove and came back
with the lost axe. Then she asked if it was his axe. Then the woodcutter became very happy to see that and said that it was his axe. The fairy became very pleasant to see his honesty. Then she rewarded him three axe.

A gerund is a present participle (verb + ing) which works as a noun in a sentence.
