Two Friends



Once upon a time there lived two boys in a village. They were best friends. One day the two friends
were passing through a jungle. They promised that they would help each other at the time of danger.
Suddenly a bear came there. They became very afraid. One of them knew how to climb up a tree.
He climbed up a nearby tree without thinking about his friend. The other was fatty and did not know
how to climbed up on a tree. But he knew that a bear does not touch a dead body. So he slept on the
grass like a dead man. The bear came near him and smelt all over the body. The bear thought that
it's a dead body. So without harming the bear went away. The friend who was on the tree saw everything. He got down and asked to his friend that what the bear whisper to his ear. The friend
replied that a friend is need in a friend indeed.

A gerund is a present participle (verb + ing) which works as a noun in a sentence. A gerund can only function as a noun.  Example :  1.    Swimming is a good exercise. 2.    Teaching is a great profession. 3.    Chair- sitting is a funny game. 4.    Playing for this team is an honor. 5.    Sleeping at this hour of the day is not good for health.
