Modern age is an age of science. It serves more than radio sets and other means of mass communication. It has become a part and parcel of our life. Television is one of the greatest
invention of science. Television is a compound word consisting of two Latin words 'tele'
and 'vision'. They mean seeing something from a distance. Television produces both pictures
and sounds that are seen and heard at the same time. It was invented by an English Scientist
named John Baird in 1926. There are many importance of television in our daily life.
The function of television is completed through two parts. They are transmitter and antenna.
The transmitter turn the picture into electromagnetic wave. The antenna catches the wave from air.
Then we become able to see the picture.
It is impossible to explain the importance of television in a words. It has brought a huge great change in entertainment and communication. We can see the news on television. We can watch movies, dramas, music, sports, debate competition etc. on television. It has educative and moral value too.
Though television is an useful thing it has some demerits too. Young boys and girls are seen sitting
before television set hours after hours. They are greatly attracted by the obscene pictures and films
shown on television. It is not only hampers their studies but also Their body and mind.
To sum up we can say that though television has some negative effects, it's importance is great. If
we use it for good purpose it will help us in many ways.
